TAKE THE PLEDGE
ATTEND A TOWN HALL MEETING IN THE FUTURE.
COMMIT TO WRITING POSTCARDS FOR PEACE.
A commitment to being open to all voices being heard, creating space for that to happen, and doing something different based on what you hear and learn.
A series of town hall meetings, diversity dinners, and other listening opportunities to allow people to hear different perspectives as a foundation to engage in reconciling current challenges, past issues, and systematic practices that negatively impact different groups.
Similar to postcard writing to Get Out The Vote or the ongoing postcard writing efforts designed to thank our veterans for their service, we intend to engage in hand-written postcards to build a momentum of peace through the written word throughout our communities.
Listen with understanding...
1. I commit to listening to the experiences of others to understand perspectives different from my own.
Create space for beliefs that are UNLIKE your own...
2. I commit to participate actively in this by attending at least one town listening session within the next six months and by contributing ideas toward a more peaceful and just society.
Work towards purposefully cultivating unity...
3. I commit to take social action to address systemic issues and work towards a country where everyone is respected, valued, and safe.
